You notice your sport shoes have had it. You’ve played hard, run hard and it’s time for a new pair.
There’s excitement about getting a new pair of runners. The colour, the style, the fit…
But what will you do with your old pair? They aren’t god enough to donate to be used by someone else…
Our first instinct is to throw them in the bin but did you know that it takes 1000 years for those sport shoe components to decompose? That’s a lot of shoes sitting in landfill.
TreadLightly is a national recycling initiative that takes unwanted sport and active lifestyle shoes and recycles them to manufacture new products.
So your old shoes could be made into gym mats, floors and playgrounds.
Find a collection location. Conveniently most of the locations are sporting or active wear shoe stores so you can buy new and get rid of the old.
