We love reading books.
Little Whimsy will happily sit with a stack of books and turn the pages and point to things. She also loves when we read to her but she hasn’t got a great attention span yet so she can go through quite a lot of books in one sitting.
Mr Whimsy is a fan of non fiction and I will go for fiction so our bookshelves are filled with an eclectic mix.
Reading books brings me a sense of peace and I will go crazy if I go without reading a book for too long. That’s one thing I miss since having Little Whimsy, the opportunity to binge read whenever I want without interruptions!
Books provide us with an opportunity to experience other lives and worlds. They entertain us, they make us think and reflect and they can inform.
Lifeline book fairs are great. The book fairs consist of books that have been donated and are sold to support Lifeline and the work that they do. In particular Lifeline provide 24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention services. For more information about Lifeline visit https://www.lifeline.org.au/
We have supported Lifeline book fairs over the years and have always been impressed with the quality and selection of the books available but also with the generosity of the donors and volunteers involved.
You will find children’s books set out by age groups.
You will find non fiction books set out by categories like travel, military, education, cookbooks etc and fiction books from A-Z.
At a recent Lifeline book fair Little Whimsy scored a great collection of books about Elmo and Winnie the Pooh, Mr Whimsy got a random selection of non-fiction books ranging from health to DIY and I got a selection including novels, books I remember reading as a child and some reference books that looked interesting.
Lifeline book fairs occur throughout the year depending on where you are so check them out and support a great cause. Some of the book fairs advertised include:
